Do ME a favor and calm down. I'm in no way a fan of the actual ASG, but I do enjoy the Skills Competition. That is usually where the true personalities of each player shine. Besides did you watch any of the pre-game interviews? Red Carpet interviews? Every single guy said that he loved the All Star Game. It's a time for them to get away from home, relax, not worry about their team, meet new guys, and just have fun. So why get rid of something the players like? You're not the one out there working your @ss off night in and out, so of course, why would YOU need a break? If they ever got rid of it I believe they would have to poll the players because the ASG is for them. Just calm your little butt now and stop. If YOU don't like the ASG then YOU STOP watching it! Easy enough, eh? I personally liked Ovechkin's little shanagens last night. It brought some entertainment. But like I said.....if you don't like it, flip the channel and don't watch it. But don't complain because the people who like it, or like part of it, or don't really care either way don't want to hear your whinings. Woah, woah. Do ME a favor and calm down.

The NHL ASG has turned into a joke. Don't believe me? Just look at Ovechkin's baffoonery. Is that what a skills contest is suppose to be? Who can act the biggest fool? Plus VS does a horrible job. The announcers don't even know half the player's names or teams. They make errors all the time when talking about the players. I could do a better job. Honestly, I could. And that's sad. It's a game of shinny with no hitting, you would be more apt to get hurt in practice. 2.) There are people (many many people) who are not true hockey fans but are casual, many seem to enjoy it. 3.) Baseball has a HR derby, NBA has the dunking contest........etc. Furthermore, the skills competition has been around since 1990, Bettman has been with the NHL since 1993 so I don't get the correlation. What does Bettman have to do with it? 4.) I don't know why people tend to say that Bettman is anti fighting, he has actually been quoted many times as saying that fighting serves a purpose and hard hitting is needed as well. Of course the NHL is going to look at anything where the safety of their employees is questioned or a lawsuit could bite them if they did not take the proper steps. As far as gladiators and the Roman Empire.......get real. It is this type of thinking that we want to get away from. It is not barbaric!
